What would you do with all the money if you won a lottery? Donate most of it to charity? What if you were rich and famous what would you do with your money and spare time? Heres a few ideas.
In July last year Allen and Violet Large in Nova Scotia won $11 Million in the Lottery and did just that. They donated 98% of it to charity. They gave it to a hospital where Violet is undergoing cancer therapy, local churches, fire departments, cemeteries and the Red Cross. They only kept 2% for a rainy day because they were happy with what they have and the way things were going. They are 75 years old and retired.
Would you do that?
Talking about charity and helping with great causes. Michael Buble another great Canadian makes frequent visits to Children’s Hospital. He meets families and the young patients. In 2008 he held a Buble Gala concert and raised $2.2 Million for the Children’s Hospital campaign.He won four Junos as well this year. Again he deserves another four trophys for his charitable work.
Vancouver Children’s Hospital requires $500 Million to rebuild the center and add special equipment. They hope to raise $200 Million with the Government covering the rest.
Daniel and Henrik Sedin two Vancouver Canucks hockey players donated $1.5 Million. The thing was they really did not want to tell anyone they did this. They were not looking for attention they just wanted to help. Would you do that?
The Hospital Charitable Society convinced them they should tell the public as it was so generous and people should be aware of their kindness. That’s a power play! Henrik won the Hart trophy for most valuable player. He should win the Heart trophy as well for his big heart.
Yes they make a lot of money and are famous but they want to share their good fortune. Thats reason enough for me to be a huge fan!
Maybe they feel the best things in life aren’t things?
